Former President Trump has been indicted on Tuesday following Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation into the Capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021. A Federal grand jury in D.C. indicts Trump for

3. Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct and Official Proceeding
4. Conspiracy Against Rights
This marks the second federal indictment that the former president faces in relation to Smith's investigation. Previously, Trump, who is currently leading the 2024 GOP presidential primary field, had pleaded not guilty to 37 counts concerning the alleged improper retention of classified records from his presidency.
The charges against Trump include willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and false statements. Additionally, last week, he was charged with three more counts as part of a superseding indictment linked to the ongoing probe. Notably, this is only the second time in United States history that a former president has faced federal criminal charges.
A spokesperson from the Trump campaign said "This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner, and leading by substantial margins.
