Jean-Pierre said that Biden has been "very clear" for a long time that he thinks a border wall does

During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced tough questioning from reporters about President Biden's statement regarding the effectiveness of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

This led to discussions about contradictions within the administration and campaign promises. One reporter pointed out the discrepancy between the president's view and the Department of Homeland Security secretary's public notice calling for physical barriers.

Jean-Pierre explained that funds for the border wall were allocated by Congress in 2019 and, by law, needed to be used accordingly. She emphasized that the administration believes there are more effective ways to secure the border.

Fox News' Peter Doocy questioned why Biden would support using allocated funds for the wall after promising not to construct more. Jean-Pierre responded by asking if they were suggesting breaking the law.

The briefing continued with repeated questions about the wall's necessity and effectiveness, to which Jean-Pierre reiterated the administration's stance and legal obligations. When asked if, once constructed, the wall would be torn down if deemed ineffective, Jean-Pierre declined to engage in hypothetical discussions.
