Former first lady Melania Trump will be making a rare public appearance since leaving the White House as she attends the funeral of fellow former first lady Rosalynn Carter on Tuesday.
The funeral will be held at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Emory University, according to CNN.
Joining Melania Trump in paying tribute to Carter will be all the living former first ladies, including Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama. They will be joined by President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, first lady Jill Biden, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and former President Bill Clinton.
The funeral service will serve as an opportunity to honor the life of Carter, who passed away last week at the age of 96. In addition to her legacy as a former first lady, Carter was recognized as a prominent mental health advocate. The family expressed their hope that by sharing the news of her diagnosis with dementia, it would spark vital conversations about mental health across the country.
Despite former President Jimmy Carter, now 99 years old, receiving hospice care since February, he will be in attendance at the funeral, standing as a testament to the enduring bond between him and his late wife of over 77 years. Following the public service, a private funeral will also be held at the Maranatha Baptist Church on Wednesday to allow the family and close friends to pay their final respects.
Always beautiful and graceful.
