Poll: Democrats support Biden more than others, but Michelle Obama remains popular

According to the Center Square Voters' Voice Poll, conducted in partnership with Noble Predictive Insights, Democratic voters overwhelmingly support President Joe Biden over other declared candidates and a hypothetical group of candidates, with the exception of one notable figure: Michelle Obama.

In a wide range of hypothetical scenarios, Biden emerges as the favored choice among registered Democratic voters. He garners 74% of support compared to the 9% for Marianne Williamson. Likewise, Biden outperforms U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg with 58% support versus 25%. Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders falls short with 29% support against Biden's 57%.

The poll further reveals that California Gov. Gavin Newsom and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren face disadvantageous odds when pitted against Biden, securing 27% and 25% support respectively, while Biden captures 53% and 60% support respectively. The same pattern emerges when comparing Vice President Kamala Harris (24%) and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (32%) to Biden, who secures 62% and 54% support respectively.

The poll results also exhibit Biden's dominance over U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (21%) and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (12%), securing 63% and 64% support respectively.

Michelle Obama, however, presents a different scenario altogether. She narrowly edges out Biden with 45% support to his 43%, highlighting her enduring popularity among the general public.

David Byler, chief of research at Noble Predictive Insights, states that Michelle Obama enjoys widespread popularity due to her celebrity status, universal name recognition, and positive memories as the former First Lady. Furthermore, she avoids the political baggage that often accompanies those who have held formal political office, making her a formidable contender if she were to run for office in the future.

Previous polls conducted during the summer revealed even stronger support for Michelle Obama, with 48% backing her compared to 36% for Biden. The poll indicates that Michelle Obama resonates particularly well with women, voters under the age of 55, moderate Democrats, and voters without children or with children under the age of 18.

The comprehensive poll, which surveyed 2,605 voters, consisted of 1,035 Republicans, 1,074 Democrats, and 496 true Independents. Conducted by Noble Predictive Insights from October 20th to 26th, the poll holds a margin of error of 1.92%.
