Biden's approval rating among black Americans down 17 points: NBC poll

According to a recent poll conducted by NBC News, there has been a decline in President Biden's approval rating among black and Latino voters since his first year in office.

The poll revealed that among black voters, Biden's job performance approval has dropped by 17 points since 2021, from 80 percent to 63 percent. Additionally, his approval among Latino voters has decreased from 61 percent in 2021 to 43 percent, a decline of 17 points. Furthermore, among voters with a high school diploma or less, his approval has fallen by 14 points, from 43 percent to 26 percent. Independent voters also showed a decline of 14 points in their approval of Biden's job performance, going from 50 percent in 2021 to 36 percent.

Overall, Biden's job performance approval rating has diminished from 51 percent in April 2021 to 41 percent in the most recent poll.

The poll also revealed that 74 percent of voters expressed major or moderate concerns about Biden's physical or mental health for a potential second term as president. In contrast, only 26 percent had minor or no concerns on this topic. Comparatively, during Trump's presidency, 47 percent of voters expressed major or moderate concerns about his physical or mental health, while 52 percent had minor or no concerns.

In terms of voter support, the poll indicated a tie between Biden and Trump, both at 46 percent among registered voters. This represents a shift in Trump's favor from June, when Biden received 49 percent support and Trump received 45 percent.

The poll, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters between September 15 and 19, has a margin of error of 3.10 percent.

This poll coincides with another survey conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post, which shows Trump leading Biden by a significant 10-point margin among registered voters.

In an attempt to regain support from young black voters, Vice President Kamala Harris has initiated her "Fight for Our Freedoms College Tour." This tour aims to visit historically black colleges and universities in September and October and highlight the achievements of the Biden-Harris Administration for young people. It also seeks to outline the ongoing work to protect fundamental freedoms and provide a platform for students who are at the forefront of these battles to share their perspectives and organize.
